Kaal Bhairav Mandir is one of the oldest Mahadev temples in Varanasi. This temple has great historical and cultural importance in Varanasi. People believed that even death is afraid of "Kaal Bhairava".

Murti of Baba Kaal Bhairav in the temple is south facing towards the Manikarnika Ghat of ganga and only silver plated face is visible to devotee (Bhaktagan) .No one kowns date of construction of Kaal Bhairav Temple but according local people it was built on 17th century.

Actually Kaal Bhairav is believed to be the Kotwal of Varanasi and everyone who wants to live in Varanasi need to take his permission to live in the city. Kaal Bhairav  protects it's people from all the problems.
